Amano Trunk Show

Every now and then there is a new yarn out that just makes your heart sing. We’ve all had it; the heart-fluttering moment when a yarn is so buttery soft and sooooo perfect for the project that’s been floating in your head.

Well, this is another one to add to the list of heart-stoppers. I just love Amano yarns!

On 9th September we will be showcasing more of the beautiful range with books, patterns and garments to show you what an amazing brand this is.

Amano aims to “make knitting with our yarns an exceptional experience for you.

“All our yarns are made of natural fibre and all our blends are unique. It is luxury in its’ purest form

“At Amano we have made a promise to nature. And we want to share it with you. We want to inspire you to feel the Andes the same way as we do through our yarns”

The luxury is the main reason we decided to sell these beautiful yarns in the first place and, on the 9th, there will be a chance to see more of the range (and, of course, have a squish!)

We are already proud stockists of Ayni…

And Apu (the finest, whitest, softest alpaca you ever did squeeze)…

But there’s more…

There will be, amongst others, super chunky Mamacha and undyed Eco Puna but the star of the show will be the Vicuña.

We will have the limited edition, hand-turned boxes (all with an edition number) and two, 25g balls of undyed vicuña. It has to be seen to be believed.

We will have some bubbles and some cake so if you want to come along for an “ooh” and an “ahhh” we would love to see you.

World Wide Knit in Public Day

Saturday June 10th 2017 is World Wide Knit in Public Day. It is the largest knitter-run event in the world.

To celebrate this year we will be collaborating with Bergere de France, Knit Now magazine and Crochet Now magazine to knit squares for a brilliant charity, Knit for Peace. (

We have STACKS of yummy yarn kindly donated by Bergere de France and we will be hosting three in-store Knit Clubs to knit it all up.

The motto of WWKIP IS “better living through stitching together” and we couldn’t agree more!

We will be knitting as many 20cm squares as possible which will be turned into blankets for refugees.

So come along; Knit for a great cause, drink tea, chat with fellow knitters and eat biscuits-what’s not to love?

We will be opening our doors on Saturday 27th May, 3rd June and 10th June (which is WWKIPD). We are here all day but we will be clearing a space from 2-4pm to serve loads of tea and biscuits to anyone who wants to come along and knit a few stitches.

Hope to see you there!

Ps Big thanks to who have donated so kindly 👍🏼

The Big Knit

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope 2017 is going swimmingly so far (three weeks in already! How?) That your Christmas knitting was gifted on time and that you’re keeping warm.

One of my things for 2017 is not going to be losing weight or getting fit or learning to spin (well, we’ll see…)

It’s going to be hats. Mini hats to be precise. Hundreds of them. Fancy helping me?

You’ve probably seen them before, on the bottle tops of the Innocent smoothies, filling up the fridges of various supermarkets. These hats have been appearing in Sainers and Tescos et al since before Wool opened in 2010 but this year we hope it’s going to be the best year for mini hats EVER.

Innocent donate 25p for every hat that’s knitted by us and ends up on a bottle (have a scout on for details) and so far they have raised £1.9m.

My lovely sissy works for Age UK in Bath (some of you already know this) and she has been helping me get all the kit and caboodle together to make it easy for our little shop to contribute as much as poss. And I’m hoping you might want to help too.

So you could knit this…..

Which takes about 8 minutes!

Or if you fancy it you can knit some of these beauties…

I have loads of free patterns in store and, of course, theyre available on the Age UK website

I know there are hundreds of great causes out there but if you could spare a few muinutes and some scraps of DK you could make an impact on people on our own doorstep.

Please feel free to drop any hats to me and the gang at the shop or to my beautiful sis in the Age UK offices on Kingsmead Square in Bath.

A huge Thank You in advance for any mini hats that wend their way to us- you are fantastic

Loads of love

Laura (and Jemma!) xx
